More effects to the people! The javascript libraries at Elfwood has been replaced with a more modern set of API's. In practice, this means that some stuff now look and behave a little nicer, for example, the windows when replying to comments are now movable. In addition to this, you might notice some other visual effects around in the woods. Most important though is that this change makes it possible to implement new and more interactive features later on.

Amnesty from now on... We have decided to give temporary amnesty to all older pictures that breaks the rules for minor reasons such as non-genre artwork, quality issues, lack of credit etc. However we will still react on copied/stolen art and harassment cases. Thomas is working on a whole new system that will make it easier for users to upload their artwork, but he also has plans on making room for the non-genre artwork, which means all current non-genre artwork will eventually be moved to the new non-genre area when it's up and running.

Updates to mail link and the FARP It is now possible for the owners of FARP articles to edit them online, directly from their web browser. This new feature also includes the possibility to upload illustrations to the articles, and to edit all their properties. This feature will be released very soon, after a shorter test phase.
The 'Mail' link on the profile pages of members now work again. This makes it possible for visitors to Elfwood to send messages to the artists directly through a mail message. [ Discuss Here!]

New Contest: The Funniest Tour at Elfwood! It has been some time since there has been a contest of any sort, so we thought we'd come up with something fun to do for the coming holidays. Many of the publishing members would be aware of the "Tour" function on the extranet that allows you to create a guided tour based on a particular theme. Now we offer you the challenge of getting your name inscribed in the hall of fame by making the best humour-based tour on Elfwood (and win some appropriately entertaining prizes to boot!) Competition deadline is 31 December 2008

Comment boards upgraded Today, I fixed a couple of smaller problems with the comment boards;
(1) Sometimes, when opening and editing multiple entries, comments we're "cloned" between different table entries, erasing old entries with another one's contents. Very annoying - but fixed now, many thanks to Fredrik Andersson who submitted a very helpful bug report on this one.
(2) When writing a new comment on a board, a little too fast, the 'anti hammering' function kicked in asking you to cool down for a while. However, when it was activated, it deleted your comment and you had to rewrite it. This is now also fixed; the old comment is kept in place.

Guided Tours revamped The popular guided tours function (http://www.elfwood.com/tours2/) at Elfwood has been revamped.
The tours are now automatically cleaned up for broken links, so no more 'page not found' when browsing tours!
Also, the problem with having tour stop at Elfwood Patron material is gone. [ Discuss Here!]

Privacy for Anonymous commenters The email address and/or URL of Anonymous commenters (the Ninja icon) is now hidden for the general public,
and can only be seen by the owner of the board or the moderators. This is done to protect the poster privacy,
to shelter them from email adress collecting spam-bots and also to avoid some spam at Elfwood. [ Discuss Here!]

More recent info at Top favorites and comments The top lists of most favorited artists and items had become a little too static, so I added a way to limit
the list, filtering on time too. This means that you can show the top favorited artists or items only from
the last week, month, etc. Like this: Last Week Top Members.
I did something similar with the top commenters list. See here: http://www.elfwood.com/topcom.html.

Elfwood celebrates one year as company "We have doubled the daily average of visitors and turned around the negative trend of new material at the
website. Not at least, we have secured the future of Elfwood. Cost for hosting and servers had become too
high to handle as a hobby project, says founder Thomas Abrahamsson"
In this new setting there will be more resources available to help out with development, maintenance and
general improvements.
"The idea now is to develop additional features for those who donate to Elfwood, the so called Elfwood
Patrons. We want to offer something special to those that support our community. We hope that those who
value and use our services will do that and help us develop" Thomas says.
In the mean time, Elfwood is climbing the lists of most visited websites and just recently pushed in on the
list of the 6000 most visited in the world. [ Discuss Here!]

Introducing Patrons After several weeks of intense development, Elfwood is introducing a new way to support Elfwood - Patron Membership.
Patron membership is a way for us to give you a little extra when you help support Elfwood. Show a little more of your personality with animated smileys, enjoy an ad-free site, and much more. Check out all the new features at http://www.elfwood.com/donate.html
The core features of the site will remain free for everyone. We understand that many members who would like to upgrade can't do so because of financial constraints. Every feature thatÂ’s free now will remain free forever.
